Celebrating Progress: CDMN Node Success Story Round-Up

There’s a lot of positive growth happening in the Canadian digital media community and few platforms upon which to share and learn from others’ success stories and ideas. That’s why we’ve put together a list of recent CDMN node achievements that you should know about. These examples support our mandate to work as a catalyst for commercialisation, spurring the creation of Canadian companies, jobs and wealth.

  • Accelerate Okanagan’s Venture Acceleration Program company Syndicate Theory is repositioning and rebranding to get away from regular service work and focus the majority of their efforts on product development. To do so, they are investing $200,000 into startup products this year. To make this happen, they’re in the process of hiring two new team members that understand the startup landscape. Read more… 
  • nGen (Niagara Interactive Media Generator) now has eight tenants at its downtown office in St. Catharines. They recently granted tenancy to growing game studio Phantom Compass. Read more… 
  • Over 400 students applied for the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus’s Business and Digital Arts undergraduate program. The demand was so overwhelmingly high that they decided to accept 90 vs. 60 students into the program. Read more…

Creation of Wealth in Canada

  • Ryerson DMZ graduated startup 500px recently purchased another Toronto-based startup called Algo Anywhere (the company’s first acquisition) earlier this month for $2 million dollars – keeping the money and wealth flowing in Canada’s startup ecosystem. Read more… 
  • TRLabs is facilitating three joint research innovation projects between Alberta/Jalisco and Mexico Technology in order to jointly exploit technology research, development, and commercialisation opportunities in both countries. Read more…
