CDMN National Tour Reports for Vancouver and Calgary
By Andrea Wahbe on Mar 8, 2012 / Categories: CDMN News, Featured
In late February 2012, CDMN hosted two more national tour events in Vancouver and Calgary. At these digital media workshops, CDMN learned that there is still a lot of room for improvement in regards to regional and national broadband infrastructure. Regional delegates also identified the need to give Canadian digital media startups and SMEs better access to early stage venture capital, and skilled workers/talent.
National tour delegates in both Vancouver and Calgary agreed that a supportive ecosystem can help Canadian entrepreneurs to receive mentorship and build stronger relationships with large corporations, investors and other startups – both regionally and across Canada.
Here is a quick overview of each of the regional reports:
Vancouver, BC – February 2012
A half-day of digital media strategy workshops focused on securing more affordable access to infrastructure, addressing digital talent shortages, identifying future opportunities and matching funding sources. For a full summary of the discussions that took place in Vancouver, download the report.
Calgary, Alberta – February 2012
At these workshops, delegates emphasized the need to foster greater innovation in Canada, assist startups to secure deals via large corporation procurement, provide better broadband infrastructure, and improve access to early stage venture capital.
